THE SEATTLE  SECTION OF AACE INTERNATIONAL WILL HOLD ITS  OCTOBER  MEETING ON

Thursday, OCT 9, 2008

  

All interested in Project Controls, Project Management, Cost Estimating, Scheduling, Value Engineering, Budget Control, Cost Engineering in both Construction and non-Construction are cordially invited.

 

"KEEPING ON-TRACK AT WSDOT"

This months presentation will provide an insight to the Project Controls and Reporting tools and methods of the Washington State Department of Transportation along with a brief introduction of some of the larger projects underway, issues and answers to implementing schedule and cost controls at WSDOT, and an overview of WSDOT's Gray Notebook, a quarterly report on numerous aspects of WSDOT performance. 

Rick Smith, Director of Project Control and Reporting for the Urban Corridors Office of the Washington State Department of Transportation, is responsible for implementation and oversight of project controls and project management systems for several very large transportation projects, including the Alaska Way Viaduct, SR-520 Floating Bridge, and the I-405 Program.  Prior to this position, he was Director of Innovative Project Delivery at WSDOT.  He led WSDOT’s initial development of Design-Build protocol, working with contractors, consultants, and agency specialty groups, and was also responsible for overall agency Design-Build policy.  Prior to that, he was Director of Planning and Programming for WSDOT.  Rick is a member of the TRB and AASHTO task forces on Design-Build, member of an AASHTO subcommittee on Project Delivery, and served for a year as a member of FHWA’s Accelerated Construction Technology Transfer (ACTT) Management Team.

FEE:           Members - $30 before 10/6; $35 at the door

                  Non-Members - $35 before 10/6; $40 at the door
